Bishop's
Orchards Farm Dinners at the Medad Stone
Tavern
SOLD
OUT
You are cordially invited to join Bishop’s Orchards for a culinary experience
celebrating local, seasonal foods and native wines in a truly special
setting, the Medad Stone Tavern.
Bishop’s
has asked La Cuisine
to design the menu, prepare and serve dinner to a limited number of
guests on August 5th and 6th. Uli Weil, Executive Chef, will lead a
team to celebrate the height of summer’s flavors. Hors d’oeuvres, followed
by a five course meal will all feature local ingredients, many from
Bishop’s
fields ½ mile away, as well as other area farms and pastures. Bishop’s
will provide a selection of Connecticut
wines, including some made on the farm.
Our
menu is inspired by the day's harvest. For this reason, we
are unable to announce the evening's menu ahead of time. We hope you'll
enjoy the surprise and diversity of foods fresh from the farm, prepared
on site in an uncomplicated style. Due to the lack of a full pantry
and limited cooking facilities, we cannot accommodate menu substitutions.
The cost for the evening, inclusive of menu, beverages and gratuity
is $115 per person.
The Medad Stone Tavern was built in 1803 by Medad Stone to serve as
a Tavern. The building has 14 rooms and 10 fireplaces. The Guilford
Keeping Society inherited it from Len Hubbard in 2001. It was decided
to restore it and open it as a living link to Guilford’s past. The property
is the home of the Len
Hubbard Community Gardens, and holds a barn, corn crib and extensive
fields.
The
event will start at 6pm, with dinner at long tables under a
tent promptly at 7pm. Please arrive on time, to enjoy a welcome aperitif
together with passed hors d’oeuvre as you tour the Tavern. The evening
is not suitable for children.
We will gather rain or shine. Our incredibly wet Spring has spawned
an equally incredible population of biting insects. Feel free to apply
repellant when you leave the car, prior to joining us under the tent.
Please bring appropriate clothing for the weather – the tent will not
be air conditioned.

Bishop’s
Orchards Farm Dinner Guidelines
- Purchases are final. They may NOT be refunded or exchanged. They
may be transferred to friends or the nice people you find on Craigslist.
- The dinners are held rain or shine.
- Menus are not published in advance, and menu substitutions will
be politely declined.
- Farm Dinners are not suitable for children. You must be 21 years
of age to consume alcoholic beverages. Non-alcoholic beverages will
always be available.
- Pets are not permitted at dinner and may not be left in cars.
- We respect all dietary choices and restrictions. Our chefs are
challenged to create a dynamic menu for a large audience in a very
limited kitchen without the benefit of a full pantry.
- Pescatarians, vegetarians, vegans, and the gluten-intolerant may
find our dinners unsatisfactory.
- If you have any questions, please call Ben at 203.488.7100.
- Summer Casual is the best guideline we can provide for what to
wear. The terrain may be uneven, dusty or muddy. High heels, no matter
how comfortable, may well provide a sinking experience. Sunscreen,
parasols, sweaters, sunglasses and insect repellant are all appropriate
accoutrements.
